What do we offer?
Sepiro Wellbeing is an independent distributor for the complete Neways range. Neways offers a comprehensive list of products which are widely recognised to be safe and free from harmful ingredients. Neways spends considerable time and resources into researching their products and their ever-expanding range includes toiletries, cosmetics, household products, and dietary supplements. Neways products are, however, not available in the high-street shops and can only be obtained through independent distributors such as Sepiro Wellbeing. Many of the products may seem expensive, however as they are highly concentrated, fewer quantities are required with each use. As a result, these products generally last longer than conventional shop-bought products. For all of these reasons, Sepiro Wellbeing offers the full range of Neways products to their customers at highly competitive prices and are shipped direct from the Neways Warehouse to your door. From time to time, special offers and competitions will become available, so please refer back to our pages for further details.

Chemicals to look out for
Have you wondered about the big, long chemical lists on the back of your household products and toiletries, and what they might mean? Are these chemicals safe? The glossy images fed by the media would lead you to believe that they are. However, these images hide a dangerous secret: most of these products, including the "natural" variety, contain the same harsh and toxic chemicals used by industry. Many of these chemicals are carcinogenic cocktails which pose a real threat to your health. In fact, you may well have noticed that many of the products you can buy in supermarkets and chemists carry warnings. Even your so-called mild, daily shampoos have warnings: “do not swallow”, “in case of contact with eyes...”, for example.
Diethanolamine (DEA), Triethanolamine (TEA), and Monoethanolamine (MEA): These are water-soluble, hormone-disrupting compounds that are derived from ammonia, used to thicken products, wet, alkalise and clean. They are all known to cause allergic reactions, be an irritant to the eyes, and dry the hair and skin. They can also be carcinogenic, especially to the liver and kidneys (Rev Environ Contam Toxicol, 1997; 149: 1-86), if allowed to react with any nitrites present in the same product to form nitrosamines. DEA, TEA and MEA can generally be found in products that produce a foam such as bubble baths, face and body washes, soaps and shampoos. Of these three, DEA and MEA pose bigger threats to your health.
Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS): This is a harsh detergent generally used as a degreaser for engines. It can be found in almost every cleaning product, including toothpaste, shampoos and body washes. It is a compound that can easily penetrate the skin and settle in the heart, liver, brain and lungs. It can cause eye irritation leading to possible permanent damage, rashes, hair loss, dry and flaking skin and sometimes even ulceration of the mouth. Like the above chemicals, when combined with other ingredients, SLS can form nitrosamines, which are carcinogenic.
Petrolatum: This product, also known as liquid Vaseline, paraffinum liquidum, baby oil and mineral oil jelly, can cause a range of problems. It can cause photosensitivity in the user and as it strips the skin from its natural oils, it can also cause premature skin ageing from dryness and chapping. As petrolatum forms a barrier layer on the skin, it prevents the body from releasing toxins thereby possibly causing acne and other skin disorders. Ironically, petrolatum is found in many "dry skin formulations", and as a result contributes to exacerbating the problem.
PVP/VA copolymer: This is a petroleum-based (see above) chemical commonly used in hairsprays.
Propylene glycol (PG): This is a highly toxic wetting agent and solvent traditionally used in antifreeze and brake fluid. However, it is also used in cosmetics, deodorants and aftershaves.
Polyethylene glycol (PEG): A similar compound to PG, PEG is a caustic chemical used to dissolve grease and is therefore often found in oven cleaners.
Isopropyl or Alcohol: This is a poisonous denaturant and solvent. It can be found in many products including hairdye, deodorants, aftershaves and perfumes. Amongst other symptoms, it can cause nausea, vomiting, headaches, and depression. Alcohol also dries hair and skin, and as a result can create cracks in the skin which in turn can encourage bacterial growth.
DMDM hydantoin and imidazolidinyl urea: These are preservatives that form formaldehyde within products such as nail polish, deodorants and body and hair products. They can cause joint pain, allergies, headaches, chest pain, depression, chronic fatigue, asthma and insomnia. Worse still, they can weaken the immune system and also cause cancer.
Talc: Talc is found in many cosmetics, baby powders and is even used on some contraceptives such as condoms. It is a known cancer-causing product and has been linked to ovarian cancer when used in the genital area. Being a powder, it is also easily inhaled causing respiratory disorders.
Fragrance: Fragrances can be found in many products around the home and are usually petroleum-based (see above). It may cause dizziness, headaches, rashes, respiratory problems, vomiting and even multiple chemical sensitivity.
Padimate-O: This compound is also known as octyl dimethyl and PABA. It is readily found in sunscreens. Like DEA (see above) it can form a nitrosamine. Recent studies have raised the theory that when the compound absorbs energy from the sun, PABA may be turned into free radicals, which in turn actually increase the skin cancer risk.
Methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl paraben: These chemicals are used to preserve a product and extend its shelf-life. They inhibit microbial growth in a product, however, they are also highly toxic. They can cause rashes and other allergic reactions.
Synthetic colours: Colours are generally coal-tar dyes which are usually labelled as FD&C or D&C followed by a number. They are known to be carcinogenic.
